Nurse
The
Jane McEvoy School Health Program is a collaboration among MetroNashvillePublic Schools,
Vanderbilt University School of Nursing, and University Community Health
Services.The program began in 1995 at Fall-HamiltonElementary School.The health center at Park AvenueSchool
became part of this program in 2001.
Our
school nurse/nurse practitioner team are an active part of Park
Avenue’s Coordinated School Health Project, and offer a full range
of school nursing, health education, health promotion, case management, and
primary care services to children at our school regardless of ability to
pay.Examples of these services include:
giving prescribed medications and medical procedures: screening for healthy
growth; identifying and treating asthma flares; checking for strep throat or urinary
tract infections and getting students started on antibiotics quickly when
needed; giving flu shots; doing camp and school physical exams; providing
education and counseling about nutrition for children and parents.
