Park Avenue Elementary School first opened it doors in 1916. The aging and crumbling building was
demolished in 1998 to make way for a new building that would be Metro’s first
combination school and community center. Also, under the $206 million
desegregation plan the school would become one of the district’s first enhanced
option schools. Operating as an enhanced
option school, PAEOS is able to offer students small class sizes of five less
students based on the Better Education Formula during the regular school year
and 45 extra instruction minutes a day. Dr. Larry Wells served as the first principal of the new
facility, 1999-2003.Mrs. Dorothy
Critchlow was principal from 2003-2007. Ms. Deltina Braden is the current
principal.
